Vehicle: 2009 Toyota Corolla L4-1.8L (2ZR-FE), Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
Mileage: 64,120
Problem: Vehicle came in for a no-crank problem and the transmission was stuck in “Park.” Also, the headlights and other lights were inoperative.
Details: While checking for grounds, the tech touched the White/Blue wire at the shift solenoid with a test light and noticed that the shifter would come out of park and the starter would operate. Further testing revealed that other affected circuits would work when a ground was provided.
Confirmed Repair: Using the OEM wiring diagram in ALLDATA for the Shift Interlock assembly, we found the missing ground. It was ground junction block #4 located behind the glove box. All three pins (37, 63 & 64) for each of the circuits were burned. Replaced the junction block. All circuits are working now.
