Aug. 01 2024
Aug. 01 2024

Vehicle: 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro (8UB), L4-2.0L Turbo (CCTA), Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Mileage: 94,927

Problem: After the technician replaced the clock spring, the steering warning lamp came on and some diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) were triggered.

Case Details: A quick scan produced the following DTCs:

  • 02546 - Steering Limit Stop: No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation 226827 - Turn Signal Switch
  • B1144 13 [008] - Open Circuit 227355 - Windshield Wiper/Washer Switch
  • B1149 13 [009] - Open Circuit 0295 - Steering angle sensor
  • B1168 54 [10001001] - Missing Calibration / Basic Setting

Also, the technician tried but was unable to perform any steering angle sensor (SAS) calibrations.

A call went out to ALLDATA Tech-Assist for some friendly advice. The consultant suggested reconnecting the old clock spring (steering electronics module), record the module coding, then reinstall the new module and load the coding into the new module.

After that, he should be able to perform a SAS calibration.

Confirmed Repair: The technician re-coded the new module as advised. The SAS calibration went through with no further issues. The DTCs were cleared. A good test drive verified that the codes did not return, and the steering warning lamp remained off.
