Vehicle: 2016 Kia Forte, L4-1.8L, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
Mileage: 185,574
Problem: The Forte was a sublet job from a body shop. The body shop owner said that after the repairs, the Forte’s engine would start and then stall right away with multiple warning lamps coming on.
Case Details: The technician contacted ALLATA Tech-Assist. The consultant advised that it’s a common issue when a vehicle sits for an extended length of time in a body shop with the battery disconnected.
He recommended cleaning the throttle body and performing any idle relearns available, then retest.
The tech inspected the throttle body as suggested and found that there was an excessive amount of carbon.
Confirmed Repair: After he cleaned the throttle body and performed an idle relearn procedure, the engine started up and stayed running. A quick test drive confirmed that there were no further issues. Mystery solved!
