Vehicle: 2001 Chevrolet Impala V6-3.8L, VIN K, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
Mileage: 125,360
Problem: The Customer stated that it was running fine and just would not start one morning. The tech checked for spark and injector pulse — found none. There was no B+ power to the 15A fuel injection fuse, transmission solenoid fuse and A/C relay fuse from the Ignition relay. The tech substituted a good known relay – no luck.
Details: The ALLDATA Tech-Assist consultant advised the tech to check for power at E8 and F8. If good, then bridge E8 to F6 with a fused wire. He should get power to the fuses and an injector pulse. The next step was to verify the ground for the relay. Ground G203, Diagram 3 shows terminal E6 is located under the driver side dash, after connector C106 and splice S253.
Confirmed Repair: The tech found that the power on E8 and F8 were good but there was an open in the BLK/WHT ground wire between C106 & G203. Inspecting the harness revealed that rats had chewed through about 6 wires on the firewall near the exhaust manifold. He repaired the wiring and the car is back on the road!
