Problem: The customer was concerned that the engine oil warning light comes on intermittently.
Details: The tech verified the oil light does come on. When he checked oil pressure with the scan tool, it read 1 psi of oil pressure at warm idle. NOTE: The warm engine oil pressure specification is 4 psi minimum at idle and 25 to 110 psi at 3000 RPM. The Tech connected a mechanical oil pressure gauge and found the engine oil pressure to be normal. It never went below 20 PSI.
While installing the oil pressure gauge, the tech found a broken 5-volt reference wire on the Oil Pressure Sensor (OPS) connector.
Confirmed Repair: The tech replaced the OPS harness connector and repaired the open wire. After the repair, the engine oil pressure displayed normal pressure on the scan tool and on the dash.
